    Hi Alex

I tried Toluna before and they are not that bad. They do not send that many surveys and I like the fact that they pay via PayPal.

One of the biggest turnoff’s for me is when I have to wait for a check in the mail in order to get paid. I will not even bother with a survey panel if they do not pay via PayPal.

I agree with you that Toluna does not issue checks, of which it is one of the advantages. However, please take note of their gift cards, there are occasions where people found their expiry dates are way too soon by the time they received them.

Indeed, one of the biggest problems for most of the paid survey sites is their payment waiting time. Unlike Vivatic, their payment waiting time is clearly stated and the cash-out is normally done in the following month (last working day of the month).

If you really want to join a good paid survey site, I recommend Vivatic.

Toluna Surveys is another survey online that might not be worth your time. Reason being, you spend much time and not so high returns. Also, as stated, there are quite a few bad points in this survey and you have to adhere to those conditions or else your point will be forfeited. You never want to earn money while being confine to so much terms and condition. Anyway, this post is very in depth and I learn a lot through the in depth content that you have written. Well done.

      Hi Steve,

I agree with you that earning money online through paid survey sites is not feasible at all. All paid survey sites have one common problem – high effort, low income. It is indeed not worth investing time and hope to make a living through survey panels.

As I mentioned in my previous reviews, I always highlight that if someone is hoping to just make some pocket money, I would recommend Vivatic. If someone is looking for a way to make a lucrative income online, I recommend he or she to Earn Money Online as Affiliate Marketers.

I signed up for toluna a couple of years ago when I first started trying to earn money online. It was just a hobby back then, so I was willing to invest a bit of time to see what I could find.
I completed a few surveys, and after the lengthy questions were completed, I found out I wasn’t qualified for the survey. You’d think they’d have known that already from the ‘pre-survey questionnaire’… what a joke.
Unless you seriously have nothing better to do with your time, I advise passing on toluna.
    Very accurate review!

Thanks for assuring that my review is accurate here.

There are many weaknesses in paid survey sites. It can be frustrating. If you really want to make money through survey panels, you could perhaps try Vivatic. I have just recently review Vivatic and I personally liked it.

I’m also registered to Toluna and i can approve what you have written here.

It’s not that useful and it has many problems. When i log in to toluna via an email notification that there’s a survey, almost every time i can’t attend to any survey because thre’s no place left.

Thanks for certifying my review here.

It is always good to receive some comments and feedback from those who have tried it.

The problem you mentioned here is quite often happening in other paid survey sites too. That is why I am not a big fan of paid survey sites and I have shifted my focus on affiliate marketing.

Oh, here we go with yet another survey site! Is there no end to these silly little sites?

You say it takes 10 hours to reach the cash-out threshold to get $20. So that’s only $2 per hour, which is almost slave labor! The problem with the points systems of these sites is that it seems like you are earning a lot of points for each survey, but you need a huge number of points to earn a decent amount of money, so it’s not really worthwhile afterall.

    • Alex Y says:

Yup, there are indeed many survey panels on the market. That is a big drawback when survey panel uses points system. That leads to a lot of confusion when it comes to redemption in different countries. You are right that sometimes, the number of points looks huge but it only worth less than $10.

I do agree making money through survey panels is not feasible and it requires a lot of time and effort. One should probable learn how to Earn Money Online as Affiliate Marketers.

Thank you for a very informative post on Toluna Surveys.
I have always been kind of skeptical towards online surveys, not being a solid earning income way and your review has reinforced that for me.

What would you recommend for someone just starting online though? Surveys aside, is there anything else that could potentially sustain yourself with in the years to come?

    • Alex Y says:

      Hi George,

There is no way you can make a living from taking surveys with paid survey sites. You should look for something that will earn you a real steady passive income such as affiliate marketing. The business model is about advertising products or services on your site. If an internet user came to your site and make a purchase through your affiliate link (e.g. Amazon), you will be rewarded. The earning potential is enormous as there are more than three billion internet users at the time of writing.

Toluna is a great survey site as I have worked with them before, but sadly never got a chance to cash out due to the high cash out requirement. I also used to do many surveys with other panels but have slowed down a lot after discovering affiliate marketing.

I guess I didn’t make enough points to cash out, and the 8 week processing time seems ridiculous considering other panels do it within 1-2 weeks. You may be right to say that they are definitely expensive to work with!

    • Alex Y says:

Hi Terence, thank you very much for sharing your experience with us here. I do agree that Toluna is one of the best paid survey sites but it can be better. The high cash-out requirement is one big drawback. Making money through survey panels is not sustainable as one needs to spend a few hours in front of a computer every day to make $50 per month.

      • Terence says:

Yeah it’s definitely not sustainable. I used to do surveys on the go as well, killing time and earning money while on transport. Not too bad for a side income, but definitely not a way to make a full time income!
