What is iPoll About?  iPoll was formerly known as Survey Head back in 2008. iPoll is operated by Instantly, Inc, and it is currently based in California, USA.

It is relatively new in the field of market research as compared to many others survey panels like VivaticiPanel OnlinePaidViewpointMyView and etc.

iPoll was founded by Matt Dusig and Gregg Lavin who are also the brainchild behind GoZing.com.

Just to give you a little bit of background of GoZing.com, it is also a survey panel that has already paid more than $5 million to their members (respondents) since 1999.

Just like any other survey panels, iPoll’s ultimate goal is to help their clients to collect opinions of the target customers to edge out a competitive advantage in the field they operate in.

As I mentioned before, iPoll is relatively new in its field. I have checked if it is accredited by Better Business Bureau (BBB), and it has not been rated yet.

However, the parent company is rated A+ by BBB, in which we are quite confident that it is a legitimate company. If you are still skeptical, iPoll is a member of CASRO, in which it is not only proven as a trustworthy company but one that really cares about their survey panelists.

How to Make Money with iPoll?

iPoll does not restrict participations of international panel members. As long as you are a member of international community, you will then be able to take surveys as they are available.

It is simple and straightforward to become a member of iPoll. You can become a member of iPoll if you are more than 17-year-old. It is totally free to register as a member. Upon signing up and confirmation as a member of iPoll, you will be paid $5.00 as a welcome bonus by iPoll.

Upon registering, a confirmation email will be sent to your email inbox that you provide during the registration process.

What is iPoll About. Is iPoll a Scam

Once confirming through clicking the link in the email, you are required to log onto the iPoll dashboard to complete your profiles.

This is an essential step as profiles of members are important for iPoll to identify the most relevant opportunities for you.

With a little bit more about your background, iPoll will select the surveys that you are more likely interested in.

On iPoll dashboard, you will be able to check what survey opportunities are available to you. However, you will need to answer a few questions as part of the screening process upon clicking “Quality for a New Survey”.

I have seen some negative feedbacks on iPoll, in which it is difficult to be qualified for taking surveys.

Similarly to all survey panels in the market, their reward amount is directly proportionate to the amount of time needed to complete the survey. Most surveys take approximately 15 to 20 minutes to complete.

One good thing about iPoll is they indicate the expected time needed for every survey before you start.

iPoll enables users to access the surveys and complete them through their Apps (available in Android and iOS). that means you can make some money even as you travel to and from work your train or bus.

Getting Paid from iPoll

Cash-out via PayPal

The reward is paid out in cash at iPoll and you can cash out via PayPal.

Here is the tricky part.

You have to bear in mind that upon completing a survey, you will notice that the completed survey not showing up on your iPoll account. That is because you will have to wait until the entire survey is closed only to get the reward credited to your account.

Some surveys take a few days and some take a few weeks. It is advisable to contact their customer support if you have waited for more than six weeks.

In order to cash out your reward, you will have to make sure that you have accumulated $10.00 in your account. $10.00 is relatively low and in line with the rest of the market research companies.

Once you have you reached the minimum threshold, you can redeem your cash on the Rewards tab. It normally takes three to four weeks to process the payment.

That simply means the lead time can go up to 10 weeks until you receive the payment in your PayPal account.

Cash-out via Gift Card

iPoll collaborates with a  lot of strong brands such as Amazon and Visa.

Other than PayPal, you could also redeem Amazon gift card with the value that ranges from $10 to $200 (maximum). Other than that, you could redeem gift cards and exchange for loads of products, from both offline and online vendors.

Why iPoll Makes Sense?

(+) Low cash out threshold. iPoll is one of the few companies that set the lowest threshold in the market. This does motivate and attract respondents to keep coming back for more surveys. There are companies who set minimum cash out threshold at $50, in which it only repels members from taking surveys as it may take a few months to accumulate $50.

(+) Did I say iPoll gives you $5 as a welcome bonus as you sign up as a member of iPoll? Well, you just need to make another $5 to cash out your reward. Well, do you know that you will always be rewarded as you fill the profiles pages as you sign up? In average, iPoll rewards $0.10 to $0.25 per info. That means, if you fill up the entire profiles of yours, you could possibly earn $3.00 from there. The math tells you will only need to make another $2 from taking surveys to cash out $10.

(+) Instead of earning points and redeem gift cards, iPoll allows members to cash out via PayPal. In general, most people prefers to go for companies who pay out their rewards in cash.

(+) I have to admit iPoll has gone extra miles in tailoring their dashboard in enriching user experience. The reason being the dashboard is user-friendly and easy to navigate. The dashboard indicates the likelihood to get selected in particular survey job.

There Must be Some Negative Sides of iPoll

(-) Long payment processing period. Although iPoll claims that it only takes four weeks to process the payment, it normally takes more than that as four weeks is counted only after when the survey is closed. No doubt, this is a common problem of most survey panels. I personally hate long lead time in getting my cash credited to my PayPal.

(-) No referral program. iPoll only allows members to make money by taking surveys.

(-) I have seen a lot of complaints on the internet that there are not enough survey jobs available in iPoll. Some members only get to do one survey per month. I do believe the frequency of invite varies from one country to another.

(-) The other major problem of iPoll is you would get a pop-out message in the middle of taking the survey saying that “We’re Sorry, Unfortunately, the survey you attempted has already reached the required number of participants”. This is extremely frustrating as you could possibly waste 10 – 15 minutes for a survey that already hit the cap and earn nothing from the effort you have put in.

Conclusion

iPoll is one of the good paid survey sites in the market, but I wouldn’t call it the best.

As I always mentioned in my articles, you can’t just rely on one survey panel to make extra pocket money. That is why I normally recommend people to sign up with a few survey panels to make a “decent” income.

iPoll is just another source that you can sign up if you wish to increase your chances in getting more invites to make extra cash.

In conclusion, iPoll is just another ordinary survey panel and you can choose to have.

I can only say iPoll is definitely not the right online-money-making tool that pays your monthly bill and puts food on the table. If you are looking for an online opportunity to make a real passive income, look for something else.

There are some other survey companies which are better than iPoll like Opinion Outpost, Global Test Market, PaidViewpoint, and Vivatic.

Again, I would like to stress that no matter which survey companies you join, you only make extra pocket money from them. You shouldn’t put high hope in making a lucrative income from taking surveys.

My Advice

If you are looking for an online source to make passive income, you should never ever consider joining survey panels.

My preferred way of making money online is affiliate marketing.  If you are not familiar with this term, affiliate marketing is about promoting a product of someone (e.g. Amazon) on your site and you make money from each purchase made by your readers.

Hi Alex, My biggest gripe with survey styled programs is they aren’t very good for us who are internationals. They tend to very rarely have surveys for us and the amount earned for a survey when you take into consideration how long you take to get one is very disappointing. I wouldn’t waste time on these but your #1 recommendation looks way more promising!

      Hi Dwayne,

I couldn’t agree more. It is true that most survey panels only accept residents from the US, UK, Canada and Australia. iPoll in contrary accepts international members to participate in their program.

I also agree that making money with survey panels is not ideal at all. It is a waste of time and effort for the peanuts they pay.

      Thanks for dropping by.

Nice review, and I completely agree with the cons on your list – for me those cons really outweigh any pros. I feel surveys take so much time or waste your time if you get disqualified in the process. No one likes to have their time wasted. And one should eliminate any expectation that you’re doing it for real money. I agree affiliate marketing is a much better way to go!

      Hi Maria,

Thanks for dropping by and give it a read. If you are looking for a way to make a passive income online, making money by taking surveys online is not ideal at all. It is highly not recommended by me.

I prefer to Earn Money Online as Affiliate Marketers as it has an enormous earning potential. There are more than three billion internet users at the time of writing. There are more and more people doing online shopping nowadays. If you are a blogger, you could promote and advertise someone’s products (e.g. Amazon) on your site. When someone make a purchase on Amazon through your affiliate link, you earn some commissions. The best part is you can work anywhere you want and earn money as you travel.

Good article Alex. I know a lot of people use surveys as a way of generating income but it is a lot of work for so little reward. It may not be a scam, but you will certainly never get rich from it!
Afiliate marketing, as you say, is the way to do it. Particularly like your infographic.
    Well done

    • Alex Y says:

      Hi David,

These paid survey sites are legitimate but it is not worth spending time for such little rewards. I agree with you that it does not allow you to quit your job and turn it into your full time job.

Affiliate marketing is by far my preferred way to earn real passive income online. The earning potential is huge and it allows me to work anywhere I can and anytime I want.

ipoll is a scam, I did their surveys for a number of years, then they decided that they were only going to allow usa and uk to do their survyes,, and we had to wait why they transferred our details onto the new site. every week for one month i kept asking ,, then after one month, they lied and told me, my account is closed because it was in active.. they stole all my points.. i even sent them a screen shot of my history… they are a scamming company , DO NOT USE THEM..

    • Alex Y says:

Dear Ashley, thanks for your feedback. I am so sorry to learn that you lost all your points. If that is the case, it is indeed no wise for those who reside outside of the US and UK to take part in iPoll.
      We really appreciate your feedback.

    Hi Alex,

Would you have access to Ipoll contact details ?
They owe me money for months now and I want to take legal actions against them but there is no info about the company anywhere online!
    Please, everyone, don’t do surveys!!
It’s so frustrating and long, but worst you will not get your money!
Also, Ipoll started one survey with ” do you buy cheese?” And after this question, the survey was about God,drugs, and other very odd subjects!
I felt like they invaded my privacy! Really not happy…never again!
