What is CashCrate?

Name: CashCrate
Website: http://www.cashcrate.com
Overall Rank: 60 out of 100
Reward:  Checks and (PayPal)
Fee: $0

CashCrate is a get-paid-to company. What does it mean by get-paid-to? In short, it is a kind of online rewards site like Swagbucks where members of CashCrate can earn money through shopping, playing games, and of course participating in paid surveys.

CashCrate started in 2006 and it is currently based in Las Vegas. At the time of writing, they have over five million members worldwide.  Until today, they have already paid out more than four million dollars to their members.

Just like any other survey panels in the market, CashCrate helps their clients to collect consumer opinions and feedback about their products and services. Active consumers like you and me, on the other hand, have an opinion to give but just do not have a platform to do so. This is where CashCrate.com comes in.

CashCrate is slightly different from many survey panels, they are not actually a market research firm. CashCrate works with other research firms to conduct online surveys.

Although the site itself has been in existence for over 7 years now, it is not unusual to hear people question the legitimacy of its business model.

As usual, I check the company profile on Better Business Bureau (BBB) and they have an A rating, in which it is a good sign of its reliability.

With CashCrate, you have the choice of claiming your rewards like gift cards, cash, reward points or even contest entries. CashCrate is quite popular as it offers extra freedom to their members to claim their compensation. Most importantly, you can make real money online with them completely free!

How to Make Money with CashCrate?

Signing up as a member of CashCrate is simple and straightforward. Just need to enter your personal information like your name, email, password, and address. After that, you take a brief profile survey for your first $0.50!

Earning money with Cash Crate is pretty simple. CashCrate makes money too when you complete offers or surveys. They turn around and pay you a portion of it.

Most of the online offers and surveys are free.  There are some tasks involve getting cash back after a purchase or after using your credit card to sign up for a free trial.

Don’t worry too much about that, I have not heard any complaints about members not receiving the cash back. I believe it is all legitimate.

There are smaller and simpler tasks that of course pay less as well. However, it all adds up. You can make money by watching TV, play games and other interesting tasks.  It is a fun way to earn extra pocket money.

One thing I do not quite like about CashCrate is they send advertisements to your inbox, in which I find it annoying. Therefore, I suggest you sign up with a spare email address rather than your primary email account.

CashCrate is gaining its popularity as it is an extremely friendly and helpful community. Always welcoming and willing to help someone out in the forums.

Boost Your Income with CashCrate’s Referral Commission

You don’t get to do a lot of surveys online with CashCrate as the openings are limited. Hence, there is a limit to how many you can do.

There are many CashCrate members make $100 – $200 per month. How do they do that? Referral commission.

Starting March 1st, 2016, you will be able to earn more money for every Survey and TopSurvey* a referral completes! Bronze members will now earn 20% of what their direct referrals make doing Surveys, TopSurveys, and Cash Offers! Those percentages increase as you add more referrals!

  • Bronze – 0 Active Referrals – 20% First Level
  • Silver – 50 Active Referrals – 25% First Level
  • Gold – 150 Active Referrals – 25% First Level
  • Platinum – 300 Active Referrals – 30% First Level
  • Elite – 500 Active Referrals – 30% First Level

You also get a $3.00 bonus when a referral from any country earns their first $10.00. When you reach Silver, the $1 referral bonus becomes available too: $1.00 when a referral in the USA, Canada, or the UK completes their first survey or cash offer.

In addition, you’ll also still receive 5 cents for every Bonus Survey item a first level referral completes and 5 cents for each Bonus Offer.

This increase in Survey Commissions should help our referrers earn even more! Start pushing your referrals to complete more surveys and watch your earnings grow!

*Note: The commission on TopSurveys will be effective immediately.

Obviously, the people you refer need to use CashCrate for what it’s intended for.  If you just refer a bunch of people you know and they create accounts but not active, you’re not really going to make anything.

Getting Paid from CashCrate

Once you have completed some tasks on their website and it is verified, they will credit your account. After you have accumulated $20 dollars you will be able to receive your first check. They send checks worldwide so it does not matter where in the world you are located.

Earnings for the current month will be processed within 20 days of the end of the month. March earnings will be paid by April 20th, for example.

First payment is by check only and you can choose to be paid through Paypal there after. It is a sure way of making sure survey takers gave accurate addresses and country of residence.

Why CashCrate Makes Sense?

(+) It is totally free to sign up. Although you need to pay some fee prior to taking surveys, you will definitely get the cash back from CashCrate.

(+) You can earn money by inviting friends and family members to become a member of CashCrate. You can earn up to two tiers! Most survey panels only offer commission up to first tier.

(+) Surveys are shorter than those of similar survey sites.

(+) The CashCrate forum is superb. You can post questions and get answers from fellow survey takers. Support staff also chip in where necessary too.

(+) Anyone in the world can become a member of CashCrate. It is not only limited to the US, UK, Canada and Europe like other survey panels on the market.

There Must be Some Negative Sides of CashCrate

(-) Payment is by check. It is not a big problem though because only the first payment is by check. You can choose to be paid through Paypal thereafter.

(-) Just like most of the paid survey sites, it takes a lot of time for your efforts to earn $20.

(-) I do not like some spam surveys from CashCrate, there are spam surveys that can waste your time. They lead you to scam sites with ads.

There are many reviews on CashCrate on the internet that claim it is an easy way to make money. I agree that it is an easy way to make money but you should not expect to earn a lucrative income from CashCrate. It does not have a lot to offer to allow you to quit your nine-to-five job.

CashCrate has a robust referral system that rewards you for referring your friends. So be sure to take advantage of that. With the upgraded referral program, it definitely allows you to earn more than ever.

You definitely will not get rich with CashCrate, but you can make a pretty decent pocket money from it. Good for students, maybe?

It could definitely supplement the BigMac fund. If you spent enough time with it, you could probably learn to work its system faster than I did. If you’re looking to make more than just pocket money. I suggest spending your time elsewhere.

If I have a choice to make between Swagbucks and CashCrate. I would go for Swagbucks as you can make money much faster.

Why? Swagbucks pay you for using their search page to browse the web. Swagbucks makes money through Google’s sponsored results and reward commission in the form of SwagBucks. You can also make money by filling out surveys, shopping online, watching videos, and many more ways as compared to CashCrate.

    Hi Alex,

Thank you for your very informative article on CashCrate. It sure looks cool and it does bear similarities to Swagbucks, but I must agree that you can’t really expect to earn enough to quit your current job.

But I guess I wouldn’t mind playing around with this opportunity for that something extra.

What would you recommend for something more solid?

      Hi George,

If you are serious about making money with survey panels or reward platforms like CashCrate, I suggest you give up looking for one. It is impossible to make a decent income with the business model. Perhaps, you could look into affiliate marketing. You can read my previous post on Earn Money Online As Affiliate Marketers.

I was looking into things like this a few weeks ago when I was trying to find a good way to help with our family finances. I ultimately decided this was not the route I wanted to take. I had never heard of cash bucks before and your review was very thorough.

I am curious though, on average, how much time would you say people spend to make $20?

    • Alex Y says:

      Hi Lisa,

Thanks for giving it a read and dropped me a comment here.

To make $20 through paid survey site varies from one company to another. In average, you can make $20 within two to three months, provided you receive survey invites every two to three days. It is hard to tell the time needed to make $20 as it depends on your demography and the qualification rate too.

I can only recommend you to sign up with more than one paid survey site if you want to maximize your earning potential.
