In fact, they are the fastest growing site in the history of the Internet. It continues to grow in respect to referrals as well, which is what affiliate marketers after – conversions.
Pinterest did not allow its users to include affiliate links due to spamming issues. After upgrading their spam detection feature, Pinterest once again allows you to use affiliate links again on the platform.
As an affiliate marketer, you can make money effectively on Pinterest by leveraging the traffic. Your “Pins” and “Boards” actually have the capabilities to get ranked in the search engines too.
If you haven’t been active on Pinterest, you are probably missing out a good deal of opportunity.

1. Create an account with Pinterest
At first, it might seem a bit complex, but I promise that it’s fairly simple. It only takes 15 seconds to sign up for a Pinterest account where they just need the basic information such as who you are. You can sign up with your Facebook account.
Your profile is composed of 5 main areas:
- Your logo – If your logo is very plain, you might want to create a custom image instead.

2. Create a Pinterest Board

Don’t forget to write compelling and targeted descriptions of your boards, too, and add to them frequently to keep your followers engaged and to make your boards easier to discover.“
Hence, just like any SEO keywords you use in your website, each one should be used in an organic way to describe the content found on your boards.
To rank higher in Boards search results for specific keywords, place them as close to the beginning of your title as possible.
So rather than simply including an affiliate link with your pin, try to write a description with relevant and useful information about your experience and/or opinion. Not only could it influence a purchase but it will also help your pins to be searched for more easily by users.
3. Pin and Share Content
When creating your own pins, you can increase the chances of showing up in Pins search results by including the keywords you want to be found for as early as possible in the description of your pin.

Remember that over 80% of Pinterest’s daily traffic comes from mobile, so ensure that your graphics are mobile optimized. For example, if you use images with writing, make sure the fonts are readable, even on a smaller screen.

After you pin the product, click the Edit button on the pin and replace the original link in the Website box with your affiliate link.
